Artificial intelligence and robotics: achievements for the public health system
Artificial intelligence and robotics are central element in public health research. They offer a multitude of possibilities to innovate to improve patients’ quality of life. What added value AI and robotics offer for the public health and how it influences people’s lives, Brad Nelson, professor for robotics and intelligent systems at ETH Zurich elaborated with some examples on 21 September in a webinar.
What can e-fuels contribute to decarbonise mobility?
On 13 April, the Focus Event takes place and treats the contribution of e-fuels when decarbonising mobility. More than 20 participants listened intently to the explanations of Christian Bach, Head Power Engine Systems at Empa, and Philip Good, Chief Research Officer at Synhelion. Stephan Renz, Head “Combustion Based Energy Systems” at the Swiss Federal Office of Energy chairs the webinar.
5G: Fears and facts
At the Focus Event from 19th November, Lukas Federer from economisuisse and Ruben Merz from Swisscom talk about 5G. Host was Ralf Sasse, ETH lecturer at the Institute of Information Security. It was an interesting evening with around 60 interested people, who asked many questions at the end of the event.
Markus Rothacher: «The universe undergoes a democratisation process».
Markus Rothacher is professor for Mathematical and Physical Geodesy at ETH Zurich. The "European Geosciences Union" awarded him the Vening Meinesz Medal in 2018. He talks about the practical use of data from space and the fundamental change that space research experienced in the last years. On 25th June, Markus Rothacher will attend the Focus Event about the topic "Space – cutting edge research and high-tech".
Blockchain and crypto currency: Explanations to two trend concepts
ETH Alumni invited on 9th April 2019 to another Focus Event on the topic of «blockchain and crypto currency for beginners». The interest was immense; the event was fully booked with 90 participants. Dr. Christian Decker gave a first introduction to blockchain, Luzius Meisser then talked about crypto currency. Daniel Naeff from our Board facilitated the Event.
