The Mission Statement
ETH and the ETH Alumni Association are working together to strategically advance their efforts – with a clear focus on what truly connects and empowers alumni: a sense of belonging, personal value, and an impact on ETH and society.
To this end, the 2025–2026 strategy process analyzed where ETH Alumni stands today and how the network should evolve in the future. The result is a clear mission statement with a shared vision, a clear mission, and specific priorities for the coming years. This mission statement forms the foundation for the 2026–2030 strategy. It describes what ETH Alumni stands for, how the network is perceived, and what contribution it makes – today and in the future.

Areas of Impact
These three areas of impact form the strategic framework for alumni engagement through 2030. They describe the areas in which ETH Alumni aims to make an impact and how that impact manifests itself in practice. For the purposes of this report, the ETH community comprises ETH (students, faculty, and staff), ETH Alumni (the ETH Alumni Association, its members, and alumni who are not members), and the ETH Foundation.
Belong
Alumni feel a sense of belonging and engage in meaningful exchange – personally, thematically, and across generations. They form a bond with the ETH community during their studies that flourishes throughout life.
Grow
Alumni draw on the ETH community and its offerings to continue learning and growing. They offer their expertise and inspire one another.
Shape
Alumni contribute time, ideas, experience, and support to strengthen the ETH community and benefit society.
The Values
For Strategy 2030, culture is a prerequisite for effective collaboration within the ETH–ETH Alumni Association–member organizations system. In an environment characterized by volunteer work, differing understandings of roles, limited resources, and numerous points of interaction, it is not only a matter of what is to be achieved together, but also of how we work together. The issue of culture is therefore closely linked to feasibility, trust, and commitment.
We join forces and focus on opportunities and improvements. Joy and enthusiasm for our work carry us forward.
As ambassadors of our association and ETH, we care deeply about supporting one another, fostering cohesion, and creating personal and societal value.
We treat all people with appreciation and respect, regardless of origin, age, or opinion. Diversity and different perspectives enrich us.
We act openly and in ways that are clear and understandable. Every action we take leaves a positive impression.
We act consciously, measurably, and responsibly. Our decisions and activities are always proportionate to the size and capabilities of our association.
