What we do

You will most likely already know who we are. You will find us everywhere in the Canton of Zurich where there are roads, rivers, lakes and woodland, where wild animals live or where there is farming. We are also responsible for energy supplies, environmental protection and preservation of monuments and historic buildings. We are a key player in shaping the face of the Canton of Zurich. Planning, building, farming and preservation – our four main activities are focused on one common goal: creating a Canton of Zurich which is appealing in the long term.

Who we are looking for

The range of work placements we offer is just as broad as the work carried out within the building department. We are looking for students and graduates of life sciences, natural sciences and agricultural sciences, spatial planning and geoinformation, law and economics, construction projects, communication, information technology and cultural studies, who want to gain practical experience and prepare the ground for their future careers.

We provide both obligatory work placements in the framework of a formal education programme as well as work placements for students and graduates of Bachelors’ and Masters’ courses.

What we offer

Work placements in the building department involve interesting and challenging tasks in a huge number of different areas. By providing clearly defined placement goals and regular feedback and learning process sessions with your personal placement mentor, we regularly give you structured evaluations and help you achieve your goals. During your personal career coaching session, we also provide advice on the options available to you after the work placement and your future career.
