On 8 February 2018, the 75 members of the OG Zürich Alumni met at the Alumni Pavillon for their annual meeting. Following the official part, they enjoyed a lecture by Prof. Dr. Anton Gunzinger on the topic of opportunities of the Swiss energy revolution.

Arno Candel obtained his PhD in Physics from ETH Zürich in 2005 following his master’s thesis, which he completed with summa cum laude. Today he is Chief Technology Officer at H20.ai, a software platform for big data analysis and machine learning in Silicon Valley.

In parallel to doing their master’s studies in health science and technology, these two ambitious health care scientists founded their own business called «IDUN Technologies AG» last year.

On 5 February, members of the Umwelt Alumni participated in a talk with Professor Randall Platt from the department of Biosystems Science and Engineering and Professor Effy Vayena from the department of health science and technology at the ETH.

As every year, the members of the Alumni Chapter Norge met for their annual meeting. Fitting with the wintery atmosphere, they enjoyed a cheese fondue with the respective accompanying beverages.

In November 2017, Felix Krause was awarded for his master’s thesis at the ETH with the Migros Environmental Award. He was able to show that with a new dynamic analysis method, a building element with insulation out of straw resulted in a negative CO2 balance.
