On Tuesday, 24 November 2020, 40 people joined the Autumn Conference on Economy, Health and Democracy in Times of Crisis. Three speakers gave insights into their daily work and presented their perceptions based on recent analyses and surveys in their corresponding fields of expertise. The ensuing discussions showed the general need to clarify open questions and exchange personal experiences.

The Annual General Meeting of ETH Alumni Agri-Food took place on 28 October 2020 with about 30 participants. The Board was pleased with the attendance of Peter Tresoldi from SVIAL, Dr. Claudio Sedivy, Co-Founder of WILDBIENE + PARTNER AG and Dr. Pascal Bertsch. At the end of the event, the participants were offered to enjoy a little culinary surprise. It is also great to toast from afar.

Hans Wanner: "Cultural differences mean that you analyse problems differently."

Hans Wanner

Hans Wanner studied and received his doctorate in chemistry from ETH Zurich. He entered the nuclear sector and took up a position at what was then the Swiss Federal Institute for Reactor Research. In 2010, he became Director of the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate and in 2011, Chair of the Western European Nuclear Regulators Association. Looking back over an eventful career, he is convinced that cultural differences are important and add to your ability to tackle problems.

Sustainable investments are becoming more and more popular: In 2019, sustainable investments in Switzerland rose 62 percent compared to 2018. However, what does it mean to invest sustainably? When is a good time to invest? What is important with sustainable investments? Are large amounts required? Olga Miler talked about this and more in her online seminar on 5 November. The interest was amazing, the event was fully booked.

Connecting MEST – Affiliate Organisation Kick-off Event

MEST

After founding the affiliate organisation for the graduates of the Master in Energy Science and Technology in June 2020, the kick-off event was on the 7th of October 2020. The event was held online and was a great first outing for promoting the group and engaging members based all across the globe.
