Tino Matter: “Revolutionizing chronic wound care”

Tino Matter

Tino Matter studied nanosciences at the University of Basel before obtaining a PhD from ETH. He is a co-founder of the start-up “anavo medical”, which aims to use nanoparticles to greatly improve the healing of chronic wounds.

16 participants gathered in Schweizerhalle (Pratteln) for the 89th VECS General Assembly including a subsequent social programme. After a hearty lunch at the popular "Gasthof zur Saline", we went to the neighbouring Rheinsaline whose staff put together a very interesting guided tour for us.

Robert Carter invited the chemical engineering graduates (graduation year 1975) to Zurich on 20 May 2022. 21 alumnae and alumni accepted the invitation. They came from all corners of the world and each one of them had an interesting curriculum to share.

On 14 May, Chapter Ticino held its ordinary General Assembly. After two years of Corona, this year’s assembly took place on site in Bellinzona again. Thereafter, we had the pleasure to attend a lecture given by Dr. Roberto Pronini, director of Azienda Elettrica Ticinese (AET) and alumnus of ETH Zurich. He outlined the current situation of energy production, supply and consumption as well as the perspectives for Switzerland in terms of the Energy Strategy 2050 to be achieved.

Planted Foods

Planted Foods is an ETH spin-off that produces meat substitutes from pea protein. During a presentation and guided tour through their production facilities, we learned more about the product and the message behind it.
