Race to Replace a Cracked Dam (Grimsel)

MAS MTEC Alumni invite you for an exciting visit to Grimsel. In the morning, we will start a 1-hour tour at the Grimsel Hospiz. The tour will take us to the construction site of the dam Spitallamm. By 2025, Lake Grimsel will be home to this once-in-a-century structure. In the afternoon, we will take a 2-hour tour deep under Lake Grimsel to the breathtaking crystal grotto at Gerstenegg – a visit to the hydro power station is included. Program 10:30 Tour 1 - Spitallamm (in English) Cost: We ask for a contribution of CHF 40/person as part of the registration to this event. For those interested in spending a dinner and a night at the Grimsel Hospiz, you can place your booking directly with the Hospiz with codeword “ETH Alumni” until March 31, 2024. Rates: Double room CHF 147 / per person (+ CHF 60 for single occupancy). Transport The Grimsel Hospiz (and also Handegg) are served by public transport. Departure from Zurich mainstation (HB) 7:10, arrival at Grimsel Hospiz at 10:12. A Night under the Stars - A look back on the MAS MTEC Alumni Event in the Urania Observatory
On 27 March, the MAS MTEC alumni community gathered at the historic Urania Observatory in Zurich. In addition to a tour of the observatory, participants were able to view Jupiter's rings through the telescope. This was followed by a drink and lively discussion in the Rathaus Café.

Nuclear energy - a closer look
Germany is phasing out nuclear energy and the MAS MTEC Alumni are visiting the Gösgen nuclear power plant on this very day.
Zahra Ariyafar: "Careers are not linear; you have to find your own path."
ETH alumna Zahra Ariyafar had a good job as a Pre-sales Systems Engineer in Tokyo, when she decided to change her career completely. To make her dream come true, she completed a Master’s degree in Management, Technology and Economics at ETH. She now works in human resources and is responsible for enabling employees to develop their careers. She is a great fan of mentoring programmes, as it has greatly helped her throughout her career.
Anna Saur: “Enjoy your course and get lots of practical experience while you’re still at university!”
ETH alumna Anna Saur studied Management, Technology and Economics at ETH. This March she was awarded the BME Hochschulpreis for her Master’s thesis and became lead of the Sales & Operations Planning Team of the Swiss firm On, which makes performance running shoes and clothing. In this portrait, Anna tells us what she gained from her course, how she shoulders responsibility in her role as a team leader and how she maintains a good work-life balance.
