Computer science: programming, designing, hacking, planning, working in a team. The focus for the participating children during the four days from 15.07. – 18.07.2019 lay on piquing or deepening their curiosity for the broad and diversified field of computer science.

Patricia Menéndez

Dr. Patricia Menéndez did her PhD in mathematics at ETH Zurich. Currently, she works as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. As the only ETH graduate, she was selected this year to go to Antarctica with an international women leadership program.

The ETH Alumni attended on Tuesday, 2nd July, a company event in the offices of Open Systems. Approximately 20 people harkened intently the elaborations about the price of a credit card number or about how the hackers’ professions commercialised in the last years. This increasingly challenges mainly companies as regards to security.

On July 6, 2019, the Environment Alumni, Bio Alumni, VECS Chemistry and VEPS Pharmacy Alumni celebrated the 150th anniversary of the ETH Alumni Association. The day kicked off with a tour of the waste incineration plant Zürcher Oberland and finished with a social dinner at the lake of Pfäffikon.

15 volunteers recorded geo data in Indonesia on 20th June. These data will be the basis for relief aid in case of an emergency. The event took place within the 150th anniversary celebrations of the ETH Alumni Association.
